Ugandan Shilling (UGX). USD is widely accepted at hotels and some restaurants but you'll get better rates exchanging to UGX. Forex bureaus give better rates than banks. Bring clean, unfolded USD bills — anything pre-2006 or with marks often gets refused.

Forex bureaus on Kampala Road give the best rates. Avoid airport exchange.
