Yes — always. Medical care in private hospitals in Nairobi and Kampala is good but expensive for foreigners. A basic travel insurance policy covering medical, cancellation and theft costs $40–75 for a 2-week trip. Aga Khan Hospital (Nairobi) and International Hospital Kampala are the places to go if you need care.
