AFCON 2027 will feature 24 teams across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Qualification runs through the standard CAF qualifying format — here's what we know so far.
How qualification works
The 24 spots at AFCON 2027 are allocated as follows:
- Host nation automatic berths — Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda qualify automatically as joint hosts
- 21 remaining spots — filled through the qualifying competition
- 6 groups of 4 teams each play home-and-away fixtures
- Top 2 from each group qualify automatically
- Best 9 third-placed teams fill the remaining spots

North Africa
